This is a vintage mid-century Maruwa Japanese akoya saltwater cultured pearl tie bar.
The pearl is 4.50mm round. It has mirror like luster with bright rosy overtones. It is set on top of a tablet of black mother of pearl. The mother of pearl has a stunning rainbow sheen.
The setting is made of solid silver. Stamped "SILVER" which is an older mark for sterling. The metal is accented with engravings and milgrain. Measures 1 1/2 inch. Comes with the original white hardshell box. It is stamped "MARUWA PEARL CO" "CULTURED PEARLS" "MADE IN JAPAN". From Japan 1940's-1960's.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
