This is a lovely high quality Japanese blue saltwater akoya cultured pearl modernist brooch.
The pearl is very baroque and measures 11mm at the longest dimension. It has great luster with pink and rainbow overtones and a medium blue/gray color. Some natural wrinkles on the surface as is common with baroque pearls.
It is made of solid sterling silver and is a swirling modernist design with high polished leaves. It is stamped "SILVER" which is an older mark for sterling. It measures 1 1/8 inches long. From Japan 1950's-1960's.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
