This is a stunning hand cast pair of mid-century modern abstract Japanese saltwater cultured akoya pearl and sterling silver cufflinks.
They feature highly lustrous pearls with rosy overtones. They measure 7.50-7.75mm and are round with even color. Slight natural ring around the pearls which were chosen for their aesthetic appeal.
They are stamped "SILVER" which is an older Japanese mark for sterling. Exquisite craftsmanship. These were made by pouring molten silver over a natural object like straw or wood to capture the unique texture.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
