This is a lovely claw prong gothic style Japanese blue akoya saltwater cultured pearl tie tac.
The pearl measures 6.50mm. It is a medium blue/gray color and great luster with rosy pink overtones.
Multiple claw prongs hold the pearl in place which is set into a buttercup setting. The setting and stem is made of solid sterling silver but is not stamped. The back of the tie tac and button bar is base metal as is common. From Japan 1930-1950's.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
