This is a substantial gothic style retro synthetic color change sapphire and Japanese akoya saltwater cultured pearl ring.
The pearl is 5.50mm round. It has good luster with rosy overtones and white/cream color. The synthetic sapphire measures 7.00mm and changes from a bright purple to a grayish blue color. It is meant to mimic alexandrite.
It is set in solid sterling silver with claw prongs. It is stamped with a designer name I am not familiar with. No metal mark but tests as solid sterling silver. US size 6 1/2. From the 1930's-1940's.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned. Some tarnish and patina on metal.
