This is a retro modernist Japanese akoya saltwater cultured pearl tie tac.
The pearl is 5.00mm round. It has fantastic luster with bright rosy overtones. The setting features a sandblasted texture with high polished accents. It is in a mid-century boomerang shape.
The setting and stem is made of solid sterling silver and is stamped "SILVER" which is an older mark for sterling. The back of the tie tac and button bar is base metal as is common. Japan 1950-1960's.
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
