This is a lovely mid-century modernist Japanese akoya saltwater cultured pearl tie tac.
The pearl is 6.00mm round. It has fantastic luster with rosy overtones. It is set into a fan design.
The setting and stem is made of solid 14K yellow gold and is stamped "14K". The back of the tie tac is not gold as is common and appears to be brass. From 1950's-1960's. Comes in the original box which stated "CULTURED PEARL" "14 KARAT GOLD".
All pearls are truly vintage and have only been lightly cleaned.
